Eden Roskill District Cricket Club

The rules we play by

Club policies.

The standards and processes that keep Eden Roskill fair, safe and well run. Full policy documents are being finalised by the committee.

01

Code of Conduct

How we play and behave, on the field and off it. Applies to players, parents, coaches, supporters and officials.

  • The full code of conduct is being finalised by the committee and will be published here.
02

Refund Policy

How registration fees, programme fees, subscriptions and net booking fees are refunded.

  • Before a season or programme starts, subscriptions are refunded in full, less a $50 administration fee, on written request to accounts@erdcc.co.nz.
  • After a season or programme has commenced, no refunds are payable, except where the Committee approves a refund under special circumstances.
  • If the club cancels a programme before it starts, a full refund is issued automatically. If a programme is discontinued partway through, a pro rata refund applies. No administration fee on club-initiated cancellations.
  • Net bookings: cancel by email at least 3 days before the booked time for a full refund in credit. No-shows without prior notice are charged the full hiring fee.
  • If the club cancels a confirmed net booking (maintenance, weather, closure), choose a full refund or a rescheduled booking of equal value.
  • Special circumstances, such as serious medical issues or family hardship, are reviewed by the Committee case by case, with a decision within 14 days of receipt.

Health & Safety

Our goal is simple: everyone who takes part in our cricket goes home safe. Our policy is aligned with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, New Zealand Cricket and Auckland Cricket.

  • We follow the current NZC Helmet Policy, Concussion Policy and Youth Pace Bowling Load Recommendations.
  • Compliant helmets are mandatory for junior hardball cricket, and any helmet that takes a heavy impact or shows damage is removed from use.
  • Concussion, if in doubt, sit them out. A suspected concussion means immediate removal, no return that day, and medical clearance before returning to play.
  • A stocked first aid kit is available at all training, matches and club activities, with access to an AED where held.
  • Hazards are identified, recorded and controlled; incidents and near misses are reported, and notifiable events escalated to WorkSafe.
  • Junior and youth activities are supervised at all times, with child safeguarding led by a dedicated officer (Sport NZ and Tiakina ngā tamariki).
  • Play stops for lightning, and sessions are modified in extreme heat with scheduled hydration and shade.

Senior Cricket Selection Policy

How senior sides are picked, from the Premier team down. Written so the process is transparent and fully understood by every player.

  • Three objectives, balanced: select the strongest XI for each grade, develop youth for the club's future, and treat players fairly and consistently. The club's interests come first, then the team's, then the individual's.
  • Teams are selected in order, starting with the Premier team. Reserves and Thirds carry prospective Premier players and younger players with the potential to step up.
  • Selection criteria: ability, form over a run of matches (not one performance), training attendance, development potential, team balance, attitude and work ethic, behaviour under the Code of Conduct, and fees paid by the due date.
  • Availability: players are considered available unless they notify the club, no later than 6pm on the Thursday before a game.
  • Players are told personally of promotion or demotion, and the reason, before teams are announced.
  • The selection committee: Director of Cricket (chair), the Senior Coach, and the Premier, Reserves and Thirds captains. Selection questions go to the Director of Cricket first, or the Chairman.
